Office of Student Academic Services

The advising experience is a critical part of the instructional mission of the University of Georgia.

Make an Appointment to meet with Advisors

Welcome to the Franklin College Office of Student Academic Services!

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences Office of Student Academic Services is to provide information about the academic requirements and resources of the Franklin College, the University of Georgia, and the University System of Georgia. Advisors foster an environment of trust, respect, and mutual responsibility, while encouraging students to develop an appreciation for the enduring value of the liberal arts experience. Advisors educate students about the unique challenges and diverse possibilities at a large university. Students are encouraged to engage in a process of exploration and self-discovery that ultimately will lead to the realization of their academic and professional goals.

Our Diversity & Inclusion Statement

In the Office of Student Academic Services our community is enhanced by diversity, and the differences among us shape the culture of our team. We believe it is each person’s right to be fully who they are, and that characteristics of race, gender and gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, religion, ability, language, and national origin are contributing factors to personhood.

We believe everyone at UGA and everywhere has the right to education and to participate freely in the educational and social endeavors of their choosing. It is our intention to:

  • Provide a safe space for our students to collaborate in the advising process by engaging in meaningful dialogue, with freedom of expression and opinion.
  • Encourage awareness of how systemic racism and discrimination continue to manifest on our campus.
  • Grow in our roles as allies for those populations that have been historically excluded from higher education as we assist students in achieving their academic, professional, and personal aspirations.
  • Foster a culture of respect, based in our own transparency and accountability, in which each student’s voice is heard and valued.

We understand that we are in the process of learning from the diverse perspectives that make up our community. We want our students to know: As we see our own diversity, we see you. More than ever, it is evident that we are stronger together.
