Mike Merva has been in the Franklin lower-division advising office since 2007, primarily advising science students. Before joining UGA, he was an advisor and English instructor at Strayer University. He has also taught at Western Michigan University, Greenville Technical College, and Gainesville State College. Mike is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Social Foundations of Education at UGA, researching how writing instruction is structured in first-year composition courses. In his (non-existent) spare time, he enjoys listening to all varieties of strange music and spending time with his two children.
