Dr. Wanda Johnson is passionate about working with students and helping them discover their strengths, explore new opportunities, and reach their goals. She brings over a decade of experience in higher education as both an academic advisor and an instructor, having taught first-year seminars, psychology, and other courses designed to support student success. She has served in roles such as Director of Multicultural Services and Programs at the University of Georgia and Academic Advisor III at Georgia College, earning multiple awards for her leadership, research, and programming, such as the 2023 Miller/Winston Research Award, the 2024 Outstanding Program/Initiative/Event Award from UGA Student Affairs, and the 2024 Dissertation of the Year Award from the Southern Association for College Student Affairs.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia State University, a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Drexel University, and a Doctor of Education in Student Affairs Leadership from the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on the experiences of underserved students in higher education, with a special emphasis on belonging, community, and identity.

Dr. Johnson is excited to join the Franklin College Office of Student Academic Services and advise Mathematics and Computer Science majors. Outside of work, she enjoys quality time with her husband, twins, extended family, close friends, and her sorority sisters.
