Transfer students make up approximately 20% of the nearly 13,000 Franklin College undergraduates. The Office of Transfer Academic Services (OTAS) recognizes and values transfer students as an integral part of the UGA student body. In order to further welcome and engage our incoming students, OTAS has brought aboard 12 Transfer Ambassadors! The Ambassadors represent and serve as resources for the Franklin College transfer student population. Ambassador's Transfer Tips Our Ambassadors Gabriel Hello my name is Gabriel! I am a Computer Science transfer student at UGA. I transferred in Spring 2024 from UNG. What I am most excited about is to create a space for transfer students to feel included! I'm a rising junior majoring in Biology Pre-med. I transferred in the Spring semester of 2024 from Georgia State. I'm looking forward to creating a space where transfer students can meet other transfers to start their UGA experience with more confidence! Sanjana My name is Sanjana Arun, and I transferred from Georgia State University in Fall 2024. I am a 2nd-year Computer Science student at UGA. As a Franklin College Transfer Ambassador, I look forward connecting with other transfer students and making a difference in their transition into UGA. I am very excited to be part of the team! Claire HI! My name is Claire Bicknell, and I am an English/Pre-Law major that transferred Spring 2024. I transferred from UNG Dahlonega, and am so excited to make the experience smooth, exciting, and stress-free for transfers like myself! I look forward to meeting and working alongside all kinds of different people with a diversity of collegiate backgrounds! I hope to help set a positive tone for transfer students to start their UGA experience off right! Jaden Hi there, My name is Jaden Godwin and I am a third year psychology student here at UGA. I transferred in the spring of 2023 from Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Ga. I am originally from Tifton, Ga, so Athens feels a little big to me, but I am enjoying my time here. With Athens being so big and shiny, I am excited to be able to encourage new transfers to embrace new opportunities, find their community, and seek personal growth. Lucas I am currently a Data Science major and will be pursuing that for the rest of my time at UGA. I transferred from Georgia State University in the Summer of 2023, and have loved being at UGA ever since. In my free time, I go golfing a lot at the UGA course and spend a lot of time at the pool with my friends when it is nice out. I enjoy trying the great food places that Athens has to offer and occasionally fostering dogs with my cousin. I'm looking forward to being an ambassador because I've had a great experience being a transfer student here and would love to help and share with the incoming transfer students. Lily Hello! My name is Lily, I am a sophomore majoring in Geography with minors in disaster management and political science! I use she/her pronouns. I am from the Athens area (Jackson County alum) but I started my college journey at the University of Tennessee, then to Georgia College and State, then to UNG Oconee, and finally to UGA!!! I am very happy to be here and settled, to say the least! What has most excited me about being a transfer ambassador is having the ability to really help new students feel more welcome and give them a lifeline. Transferring is very challenging in many different ways and if I can help one student make one new friend or give them someone to relate to or feel more comfortable on campus then that's a win! I have a lot of experience in transferring, some good and some bad so I am really looking forward to putting my unorthodox school history to use! Angelina Hi! I am Angelina Cotter! I am currently a 3rd year psychology student with a minor in criminal justice. I transferred to the University of Georgia in the fall of 2023 from Kennesaw State University. Prior to attending Kennesaw State University I spent a semester at Georgia College and State University. I am most excited to interact with fellow transfer students and be able to help in making their transition go as smoothly as possible. George - Lead Transfer Ambassador Hey everyone, my name is George Owusu. I'm a Computer Science major that transferred to the University of Georgia in Fall of 2022. I love playing the piano, trying new restaurants, and playing video games. Esther - Lead Transfer Ambassador I’m a psychology major with a neuroscience emphasis, minoring in biology and ASL. I transferred to UGA from Berry College during the second semester of my sophomore year. Some of my hobbies include watching movies, exploring new eateries, and traveling!
