Prospective Transfer Students FAQs
  • What do I need to know/do to transfer to UGA? To start, visit UGA Admissions for transfer eligibility requirements and deadlines: https://www.admissions.uga.edu/admissions/transfer/  Additionally, the Franklin College Office of Transfer Academic Services assists prospective transfer students in their planning. To schedule an in-person, phone, or Zoom appointment with our office, please email otas@uga.edu or call 706.542.6400.

  • Will my courses transfer? To see how your courses may transfer to UGA, visit the UGA Transfer Equivalency Search site here: https://apply.uga.edu/portal/transfer-equivalency. Search for your institution and the course number. To understand the symbols used in our search tool, please consult the UGA Admissions FAQ or reach out to the Franklin College Office of Transfer Academic Services at otas@uga.edu or 706.542.6400.

  • Is there a pre-transfer advisor I can talk to about my schedule at my current institution in preparation for a future transfer to UGA? Yes! Please contact our office to schedule an in-person, phone, or Zoom appointment to review your pre-transfer questions.

  • Are there any specific requirements I must meet for my intended major as I apply to transfer? Most Franklin College majors do not have entrance requirements, but some programs do have preferred courses which would be beneficial to be aware of. We’re happy to review those details with you. Please contact our office by email at otas@uga.edu or 706.542.6400.

  • Will my AP credits count towards the earned hours I need to apply to UGA? Please see UGA Admissions FAQ for this and other frequently asked questions. “Advanced Placement credit will only count toward meeting admissions criteria if it is adequately represented on another college’s transcript. The credit must be identifiable as AP, have a course designation at the college (ex. ENGL1101), and credit hours (ex. 3). If UGA Admissions cannot determine from the transcript the course or hours or if it is AP credit, the credit will not be included in transferable hours.”

  • Can my transfer course count for Franklin College requirements? Maybe! When you have been admitted to UGA, please obtain the syllabus for the semester you took the course and send it to Katherine Field (kfield@uga.edu), Coordinator of the Franklin College Office of Transfer Academic Services, who will review your course. Your course cannot be reviewed until you have been admitted to UGA.

  • Who do I ask about evaluating my transfer course? At your academic advising appointment during Transfer Orientation, you will be given a transfer evaluation link to use if you don’t see your course on the Transfer Equivalency Search site. When you submit the request using the tool, the academic department you select will evaluate the transfer course for possible inclusion in the core or your major.
