She taught English and writing at Emmanuel College and Athens Technical College for many years. Her undergraduate degree is in English and her masters is in Journalism, both from UGA. She has written extensively for several local publications including The Observer, Flagpole, The Banner Herald, and Athens Parent and she still does occasional free-lance writing, editing, and text book critiques.
